Ballet, Company, Modern and Tap- Class Descriptions, Prerequisites and Schedules
Registration for our 2023-24 season is closed. Registration for our 2024-25 season will open in May.
BALLET classes
Ballet beginnings/ Creative Movement
This one day per week class is designed for dancers ages 3 and 4 in a small group setting. Ballet based creative movement, interacting with others, learning to hear and count music with friends old and new is lots of fun.

Ballet 1
This 1 day per week class is designed for dancers ages 5 (or almost) and 6. We will learn basic ballet and movement concepts in an environment that is lots of fun yet age appropriately structured.

This one day per week class is designed for dancers ages 7 through 9 and their increasing attention spans and advancing physical abilities.

Ballet 2.5
Ballet 2.5 is designed for dancers ages 8 through 11 that are ready and able to commit to classes 2 days each week .

Ballet 3
This 2 day per week class is designed for dancers ages 9 1/2 and above. Pre pointe work will be included in the syllabus.

Ballet 3.5
This 2 day per week class is designed for dancers previously enrolled in Ballet 3 or equivalent. There will be beginning pointe work at the barre for dancers that are ready and may progress to center floor as the year progresses.

Ballet 4
Ballet 4 is a 2 day per week class designed for dancers ages 12 and above that have previous pointe experience. Placement in this class is by director recommendation.

Ballet 5
This is a 2 day per week advanced technique class. Placement in this class is by director recommendation.

BYC Company-
Ballet Performance Class
Placement in BYC Company classes are by audition for students 10 and above. Dancers and families must be willing to commit to the class and rehearsal time involved. All students in these classes must be enrolled in and attend 2 day/week ballet classes in addition to this class.
Mrs. Cooper will notify students of their placement in one of three classes:
BYC Apprentice Company- Ballet Performance 1 (pointe class)-
Wednesdays, 6:15pm-7:15pm
BYC Junior Company- Ballet Performance 2 (intermediate pointe class)-
Tuesdays, 6:30pm-7:30pm
BYC Senior Company- Ballet Performance 3 (advanced pointe class)-
Mondays, 7:30pm-8:30pm
Elementary Boys Class
Get ready to explore movement, jumping and other basics. This class is designed for boys ages 6-9.

Beginning Ballet for Teens and Adults
It’s never too late to begin or return to ballet. This class will focus on beginning fundamentals with students from teen to adult. Join us for some fun as well as a great workout.

Adult Ballet/ Pilates
Our adult ballet/ pilates classes focus on flexibility, muscle/ core strength and endurance combined with ballet movements.

MODERN classes
Modern 2*
Dancers enrolled in 2 day ballet classes will find this class challenging as well as enjoyable. These classes compliment the Monday-Wednesday Ballet 3, 3.5 and 4 classes.

Modern 3- Advanced*
Be prepared to work hard and learn different movement styles. This class is designed for dancers that are enrolled in the Ballet 5 Class.
Mondays, 6:30pm-7:30pm

Attire is the same as Ballet classes. No shoes needed. Pink ballet shoes may be worn.
*Dancers must be enrolled in Ballet 1-5 to enroll in Modern classes
TAP CLASSES
Tap 1*
Tap 1 is designed to accommodate Monday Ballet 1 and 2 students. Tap is not just fun it teaches rhythm and other skills as well.

Tap 2*
Tap 2 is for dancers that have mastered basic tap steps and rhythm structure taught in Tap 1 . The schedule for this class and Modern 1 are ideal for dancers enrolled in age 9+ ballet classes.

Tap 3 is designed for dancers enrolled in 2 day 1.5 hour classes. The schedule accommodates dancers in Modern 3.
